At the beginning of each session children are greeted with a warm welcome. We spend time together, checking in with one another before talking about our projects already underway, or exploring new project ideas together. We use this time to explore new skills or concepts together - asking questions, undertaking the beginnings of an inquiry that can be reflected on at the end of the session or at a later session.
We come together to share food, including a healthy midmorning snack to refuel and reconnect. At lunch time we sit together, excitedly discussing the contents of our lunchboxes brought in from home.
Lunch is followed by a long form story. Some days a child will choose to read aloud, and on other days an adult will read aloud to the group.
The afternoon is spent working further on our projects. Sometimes children choose to work on individual projects, and other times a project is undertaken by the whole group.
We close by coming together to reflect - what worked well? What didn't work so well? Who helped me? We also think critically - What would I do next time? We make a plan together for what we would like to achieve in the next session.
